5 Steps to Apply for a Chicago Marriage License (Will County) | Destination Wedding Planner
Are you heading to the windy city or surrounding area to say, "I DO"? Are you unsure of how to make your upcoming nuptials official? Follow the simple 5 steps below from a Destination Wedding Planner to get your Chicago Marriage License.
1. Gather the necessary documents
All applicants must upload a valid photo ID. ONE of the following will be accepted by the Will County Clerks Office:
Valid driver's license issued by any US State
Current military identification card
Current US passport
Foreign Passport
OR TWO of the following:
US Permanent Resident Card
US Naturalization Papers
Certified copy of birth certificate
Foreign Consulate ID
2. Complete the Online Application
First, complete the application online, which can be found here.

3. Make an Appointment & Appear in Person
Both parties are required to appear in person (together) to complete the application. Appointments must be scheuled in advance and book at least two weeks out. They are available Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:00pm

4. Apply in a Timely Manner
You may apply starting at 60 days prior to your wedding date, as this is how long the license is valid for. A license becomes valid the day after you apply. We recommend applying sooner rather than later, incase there are any snafus with the initial application/ appointment.
5. Additional Requirements & FAQ
1. The marriage or civil union license fee is $28.
The Will County Clerk’s Office accepts cash, check, or credit/debit.
Satellite locations accept cash only.
